Basic 1vs1 Magician Guide

Table of Contents

If you already had your 2nd job change here is the guide for HnR Elementor, AoE Psykeeper.

Stat Points „H“

Let’s start with the basics—stat points. This is very straightforward. You just need to go Full INT

Sets

For Magicians in Flyff, acquiring the appropriate set for each level is crucial. Starting from the level 15 set, it’s important to aim for a full 4-piece set at every stage—level 15, level 30, and so on. Each set provides bonuses that significantly improve casting speed, which is the most important stat for a Magician. Casting speed for a Magician is equivalent to attack speed for 1vs1 classes. A 5% increase in casting speed can make a noticeable difference, even in the

Level 15 Seer/Niz Set

While the level 15 set isn’t absolutely essential, it does offer useful bonuses, such as increased max MP+15, +5INT, and Casting Time+5%, which can be especially beneficial for newer players. However, obtaining the full set at this stage might be challenging since the pieces are rare. If you don’t manage to gather the complete set by level 25, don’t worry too much—it’s not a dealbreaker. Even acquiring a few pieces can help, especially since they provide a higher defense compared to NPC gear.

Level 30 Sorrain/Merr Set

By the time you reach level 30, having the full set becomes more important. The level 30 set not only reduces MP consumption by 25%, which is a significant benefit for reducing skill MP costs, +7 INT but also offers 10% increased casting speed and enhanced defense. These bonuses make a substantial difference in your performance, especially as you start facing tougher enemies. While it might require some effort or trade to obtain this set, it’s generally affordable and well worth the investment.

Level 45 Teba/Misty Set

The level 45 set is a direct upgrade over the level 30 set, offering even better bonuses. The MP consumption reduction is only 15%, but the set also provides increased INT (now+10), casting speed +15%, and higher defense. This set is particularly valuable not only for PvE but also for PvP. The added INT boosts your magic damage, and the higher defense helps you survive longer in battles. Therefore, it’s highly recommended to obtain the full level 45 set as soon as possible.

Level 60 Ahres/Annos Set

At level 60, you will continue to benefit from a similar set structure. The level 60 set further enhances your casting speed +15% and provides additional bonuses to max HP+15, and MP Consumption Reduction+20%. While the effects are consistent with previous sets, they scale with your level, making this set another essential part of your progression. The increased casting speed and improved defense will make a noticeable difference in your ability to handle tougher encounters.

Weapons

Wands and Shields: Leveling Strategy

When it comes to choosing weapons, it’s recommended to level up with both a wand and a shield. This is especially important because Magicians typically have lower defense, and at lower levels, you won’t have access to strong buffs from a Ringmaster. At the start, you’ll likely have minimal buffs, so using a staff isn’t ideal for solo leveling, particularly against higher-level monsters. Even with a Ringmaster supporting you, enemies can still deal significant damage. Therefore, having a shield for added defense is crucial.

Level 15 Wand

The level 15 Wand (Wand of Lightning), while offering some benefits like elemental mastery (Electricity), isn’t overwhelmingly powerful. The 10% additional damage it provides isn’t as impactful as something like 10% increased casting speed, which would universally benefit you more. Thus, while this wand is decent, it’s not critical to your build.

Level 30 Wand

At level 30, your options improve. The Wand of Earthquake offers 5% faster casting and 3 INT, making it an excellent choice. Alternatively, the Entanale Wand from the Dekane quest can be powerful, but completing that quest is notoriously difficult, especially due to the rage mode of monsters like Red Bangs that deal increased damage when their health is low. Given these challenges, the Wand of Earthquake  is often the better and more reliable choice, offering significant advantages with its casting speed and INT bonuses.

Level 45 Wand

The Branch of Rhisis at level 45 is essentially an upgraded version of the level 30 wand. It provides even higher stats (10% casting time and 3 INT), making it a better option as you approach higher levels. As you near level 60, you might consider switching to a level 57 wand, like the Rune Wand, which grants a 10% casting speed bonus, matching the effect of the Branch of Rhisis but with improved stats.

Jewelry

For jewelry, the best combination typically includes two Intelli rings +3, which significantly boost your magic damage. Additionally, the Demol Earring +3 provide extra damage, which is particularly important for maximizing your DPS. However, one of the most valuable pieces of jewelry for a Magician is the Mental Necklace+3. This necklace offers several critical benefits: increased MP, reduced MP consumption, and MP recovery after each kill. These effects allow you to sustain your MP more efficiently, reducing downtime and increasing overall performance.

Upgrading your jewelry to higher levels, such as +7, greatly enhances these effects. Even lower-level upgrades like +1, +3, or +5 can make a noticeable difference, especially in reducing MP costs. If you’re facing situations where you’re taking significant damage, consider equipping a Plug Earring for additional defense. This flexibility allows you to adapt your setup based on the situation, ensuring you remain effective in battle.

Shields

When using a wand, pairing it with a shield is essential for boosting your defense. As soon as you reach the required level, you should aim to acquire the corresponding Green Shield for that level (Light, Battle, Fury, Heavy, Avalon Shield). These shields not only offer higher defense stats compared to standard shields but also come with additional bonuses all stats +1~4, making them superior in every aspect.

Skill Points "K" Allocation

When it comes to allocating your skill points, here’s a strategic approach to maximize your effectiveness, especially for beginners.

Prioritize Mental Strike

After maxing Mental Strike, focus on a balanced elemental strategy. Here’s how to approach it:

  1. Maximize Lightning Ram, Waterball, Strongwind, and maybe Fire Strike:
    • Lightning Ram: This is a secondary element skill but with excellent scaling, making it almost as effective as a primary element skill.
    • Waterball: Like Lightning Ram, Water Ball is another secondary element skill with good scaling.
    • Strongwind: This skill is highly effective, even though it’s a secondary element. The damage output is impressive, making it a solid choice.

These skills provide strong damage output while offering flexibility in combat, as you can counter different elemental enemies effectively.

  1. Ignore Earth Skills:
    • Earth: This element is generally less effective, and its damage scaling is not as favorable compared to others. By ignoring Stone, you free up points to invest in more versatile and powerful skills.

Why This Strategy?

By focusing on one skill from each element, you gain the advantage of dealing bonus damage against the corresponding opposing element. This balanced approach allows you to maximize your overall damage output rather than specializing too heavily in a few areas.

While it’s tempting to invest deeply in a single skill or element, spreading your points across multiple elements can yield better results, especially in early to mid-game where versatility is key.

Managing Skill Points

If you follow this strategy—maxing three secondary element skills, one primary element skill, and Mental Strike—you’ll hit the maximum skill points at level 52. At this point, you could consider diversifying further:

  1. Consider Spike Stones Later:
    • While Spike Stone skills can be maxed after level 52, they don’t necessarily increase your damage output significantly. They may be useful in specific situations but aren’t essential for general leveling.
  2. Focus on High Impact Skills:
    • Instead of spreading points thin across many skills, prioritize those with the highest impact on your gameplay. For example, Mental Strike remains useful even later in the game, so continue to rely on it where appropriate.

Final Thoughts for Beginners

This guide is particularly suited for beginners who want a straightforward, effective strategy for skill allocation. It’s a balanced approach that allows for flexibility and adaptability as you progress. Remember, if you find yourself needing a specific element for certain enemies later on, you can always adjust your strategy accordingly. However, with this plan, you’ll be well-prepared to handle most challenges up to level 52 and beyond.
