General information

This is a gathering and crafting system with new items that will aid you along your journey.

Gathering

The first aspect of this system is gathering. You can purchase new tools designed for each type of gathering, including herb gathering, woodcutting, mining, and fishing from the new Lifestyle NPC Livi with Penya.

Please note that these tools will have finite durability, with rarer harvesting objects having more durability consumptions. This durability will be consumed regardless of success or not.

  1. Mining Class | Uses different kinds of pickaxes
  2. Herbology Class | Uses different kinds of hoes
  3. Fishing Class | Uses different kinds of fishing rods
  4. Woodcutting Class | Uses different kinds of axes.

In order to use these tools, you will need to learn the skills through Livi’s quests. Completing a quest unlocks the respective gathering skill.

Gathering in-game footage

Herb gathering, mining (Ore), and woodcutting (Tree) can all be performed all over Madrigal, with herbs, ores, and trees spawning randomly. Each region has a different distribution of the type of material that spawns, similar to the pet berry plants.

Gathering locations

The Herbs, Ores, and Trees are located all over Madrigal with different rarietys

Note that the rarities defined in the table above are all relative to how much overall spawns there are in that region. As a rule of thumb, the larger the region, the more spawns there are.

Different rarities of herbs, trees, and ores can be gathered around the world, requiring you to equip the right kind of tool: A hoe, an axe, or a pickaxe, respectively.

These rarities are separated into 5 grades: Ordinary, Regular, Unique, Rare, and Legendary for each type respectively and the spawns are rarer the higher the grades are. The rarer the grade is, the higher the chance you will have yielding a higher grade material from it, and some material will be available from higher grade harvesting objects only.

Gathering item examples

  • As a miner class, you should have the ability to gather different kinds of gemstones like Turquoise (D) , or Fragmented Jewel (C)
  • As an Alchemist class, you should have the ability to gather different kinds of herbs like Blue Herb (D), or Yellow Herb (C).
  • As a Fisher class, you should have the ability to gather different kinds of Fish like Shrimp (C), Large Cod (D), and Mackerel (C) .
  • As a Wood Cutter class, you should have the ability to gather different kinds of Trees, Logs, and Braches like Damaged Tree (B), Maple Log (D), and Tree Branch (D).

Fishing

Fishing is slightly different to the other types of gathering. Once you have learned the fishing skill by completing the quest from Livi, you can head to a body of water to start. You can automatically fish, or decide to play the fishing minigame, which can increase the success rate of your fishing.

Minigame to increase your fishing success rate:

If you were automatically fishing, you can view the results of your fishing session once you return and examine your yield.

Please note that when you are automatically fishing, only the base success rate will be applied.

Mastery experience | Menu key - "L"

By fishing, and gathering these materials successfully you will receive mastery experience towards the type of gathering you are doing. As your mastery points increase, so will your success and great success rates.

You will gain more mastery points for harvesting rarer grades as well.

Production

Another aspect of this system is Production. You can use the materials you have gathered to create new items that will be useful during gameplay. There are 4 types of production you can engage in:

Carpentry, Smithing, Alchemy, and Cooking (Hearth)

In order to perform these actions, you need to learn the respective skill through quests given by Livi. Stations for each type of production are located around Madrigal, in towns as well as in front of Livi.

Create ingredients for other production and items such as food, buff items, furniture, or even special accessories

You can create ingredients which can be used in other productions, or useful items which can be used directly such as food, buff items, furniture, or even special accessories. Similar to gathering, you will gain mastery for each production skill, even if you fail to produce an item.

Recipes are unlocked by trying out random combinations of ingredients.

Once you try out a combination of items, there is a chance that a recipe will be partially revealed to you.

If you happen to input an exact recipe, it will always be shown to you. Note that some recipes will require special titles and mastery in order to be unlocked or created.

After you obtain a recipe, you can attempt to create multiple of the same item at once if you put enough ingredients into it.

Please note that in order to create the items you want, you will need to select the recipe of your choice from the dropdown menu and then put in the ingredients.

If you put in the right ingredients without selecting the recipe from the menu, it’ll be considered a “random production” attempt so it might fail to yield you the result even if you have succeeded in the production itself so beware.

Also, some items might have a limit on how many items you can possess at once in your inventory and bank. The excess items in these cases will be sent to you mail and you can retrieve them later.

You are able to view the items you attempt to create, and production can be sped up using a Cash Shop scroll. There are 5 minute, 10 minute, 30 minute, and 1 hour variants of this scroll which can be used in the production speed up menu.

However, note that if you use an amount more than required, you will not receive the extra time back in return. For example, if you use a 1 hour scroll on a production which has 5 minutes remaining, you will use the entirety of the 1 hour scroll regardless.

You can also increase your success rate by using the Cash Shop item “Scroll of Success” and decrease the overall production time by 10% by the Cash Shop item “Scroll of Production Boost”.

Production Boost Cash Shop item Overview

The tools have different success rates and different rates of collecting better items. There seems to also be premium items for adjusting these two rates.

  • Scroll of Success: The production success rate increases by 10% for 30 minutes upon use.
  • Scroll of Great Success: The production great success rate increases by 10% for 30 minutes upon use.

There are also Scroll of Production Boosts to make your production faster

  • Scroll of Production Boost: The production time per 1 item decreases by 10% for 30 minutes upon use.
  • Scroll of Production Reduction (5 Min): The remaining production time decreases by 5 minutes when used. The item will be consumed even if the remaining time is 0 after using the item.
  • Scroll of Production Reduction (10 Min): The remaining production time decreases by 10 minutes when used. The item will be consumed even if the remaining time is 0 after using the item.
  • Scroll of Production Reduction (30 Min): The remaining production time decreases by 30 minutes when used. The item will be consumed even if the remaining time is 0 after using the item.
  • Scroll of Production Reduction (1 Hour): The remaining production time decreases by 1 hour when used. The item will be consumed even if the remaining time is 0 after using the item.

Probability during processing (crafting)

crafting is associated with a probability. For the 4 processing classes, there is a useless item if you fail.

  • Smithing
    • Stone Dust: A stone that has been unsuccessfully carved, leaving only powder. Unfortunately, there seems no use for it.
  • Alchemist:
    • Experimental Residue: These are ingredients that have failed alchemy and become unknown. Unfortunately, there seems no use for it.”
  • Cooking:
    • Burnt Food: Food that failed to cook and was burnt. Unfortunately, there seems no use for it.
  • Carpentry:
    • Sawdust: This is the wood from a failed carpentry attempt. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any use for it.

Expert & Mastery Ranking

For a special effect while gathering or producing, you are able to select one type of gathering and production as your skill of expertise. This selection can be changed once every 7 days by default. You can see the effect of each of the Mastery below:

Weekly Ranking

Furthermore, there is a weekly ranking of mastery points for all the competitive players out there.

The ranks will be based on the cumulative mastery amount you have obtained and will reset every Monday at midnight (00:00) server time.

Ranking within the top 5 in a week will reward you with a special title as well as Master’s Chip rewards.

These titles will be time-limited to be used only within that week.

On top of this, if you have more than 100,000 Mastery obtained and you don’t obtain at least 100 Mastery for that week, 10% of your mastery will decay at the weekly ranking reset in order to prevent people from staying at the top ranking without doing anything.

This penalty will increase even more as you get more mastery, requiring you to have 1,000 mastery obtained per week for 1 million mastery and 5,000 mastery obtained for 10 million.

Some high-end production recipes will require these special titles, so best of luck!

Master's Chips

Master’s Chips are awarded to you when you successfully produce an item during random productions. These chips can be exchanged for various ingredients at Livi.

Overview of all items to exchange:

Wandering Merchant

The Wandering Merchant is a merchant that can be found in the towns, with a shop inventory specific to you, which updates every 3 hours.

They will sell items usually needed for production for 100 penya, and the items this merchant sells are limited in quantity, however, you may use a cash shop item called “Wandering Merchant Refresh Ticket” to refresh the shop’s inventory, including both the items for sale and their stock.

Example location and example shop:

Product Upgrade

In order to use the production with different recipes there are D, C, B, and A variants of items. You can upgrade to a higher grade at Livis with different ratios shown below:

The API doesn’t show a duration. Tests of the Fish Balls show 5min for D, 8min for C, 10 min for B, and 15min for A,  so maybe for these items, it’s similar.

Cooking Class

Basic food crafting seems to be the standard food like Seafood Pan Cake in other Version (D), (C), (B), (A), (A+) (increasing HP/MP FP) recovery items.

Other than recovery items there are also Buffs probably craftable in higher Achievements when the character is skilled in the job.

1st categories of consumables are:

  • Fish Balls in red, blue, green, purple, rainbow, orange, sky blue, yellow pink, grey, and white all in (D), (C), (B), (A), (A+)
    • (D) give +1,  (C), and (B) give +2,  and (A) and (A+) give +3 of the individual stat like STR

Note: Since these stats for the 3rd category are pretty high it most likely not going to be easy to achieve the skill point (title) to be even able to try crafting it.

The API doesn’t show a duration. Tests of the Fish Balls show 5min for D, 8min for C, 10 min for B, and 15min for A,  so maybe for other items, it’s similar.

Carpentry Class

The Carpentry Class seems to craft a lot of housing-related individual furniture like a Wooden Chair (5,10 15, 20, 30  Days duration versions). Most likely depending on the title maybe skill level.

Designs:

  • Wooden
  • Wooden Yellow
  • Wooden Blue
  • Wooden Red
  • Music (themed)
  • Modern
  • Design (themed)
  • Heart
  • Cushion
  • Antique
  • Royal
  • Golden Royal

Currently, there isn’t a value in the API indicating if they have stats.

New powerup restrictions

The new powerups can be activated together with the same stat kind from old existing powerups like Concoction of Clarity (A) and Potion of Clarity. (Casting time enhancement).

But they can’t be activated together with new powerups of the same stat kind like White Fish Ball (A) and Concoction of Clarity (A)
