Elemental Upgrade

Table of Contents

Important information before you upgrade your weapon

Monsters have a natural +30% resistance boost (taking less dmg) on one element and a -30% resistance deficit (taking more dmg) for the opposite element.

Having the advantageous element (for this example at least +1 wind) on your weapon increases your dmg by 30% (through the monster’s negative resistances).

Upgrading your weapon with an element also increases your attack power by a % on top of the resistance bonus.

So yeah, you always want at least a +1 elemental advantage (the monster’s -% resistance) on your weapon for an easy 7% attack boost and 30% dmg boost

Attention: Sometimes, the -% resistance element icon is shown first,  so just look at the arrows. A down arrow means you do less damage to the monster, and an up arrow means you do more damage to the monster.

Different kinds of attacking and the effect with elements

Resistances (mentioned above) works for all types of attacks with an element.

The value upgrade table +1 to +10 works only for auto attacks.

For skills with an element, all upgrades between +1 and +10 bring a 10% bonus, as long as the element matches the element of the skill.

General information

For each +1 element on your weapon (up to +10 possible), you get a additional  +% increase or decrease in attack by doing auto-attacks.
For each +1 element on your equipment suit (up to +10 possible), you get a +1 increase or decrease in defense.

This depends on the element. In the picture, the element is effective clockwise.
Also in the picture below you can see the % increase (decrease) for each +1 element.

Example:
With a Fire Weapon, you do more damage against Wind monsters, but less damage against Water monsters.
If you hunt Fire monsters there isn’t any damage difference.

Example:
With a Fire Suit, you receive less damage from Wind monsters, but receive more damage from Water monsters.
If you hunt Fire monsters there isn’t any damage difference.

How to upgrade

To upgrade your Equipment Set piece or Weapon with an element you need to go to the NPCs [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine. You need 1 of 5 Element Cards (droppable from monsters 20+).

Then you need a different amount of Erons, Krasec, Mineral, and Gurudepending on the element and upgrade level. You get 100 of these materials from one Catcher, using an Ultra Collector.

From upgrade level +4 you also need a Scroll of SProtect (Cash Shop item) to save your item from breaking.
(The Cash Shop item Scroll of Smelting gives you +10% success rate)

Needed Materials for each upgrade attempt and upgrade chances

The number of Materials depends on the upgrade level of the item. It doesn’t matter if it’s a weapon or set-piece, or which level the item is.

Upgrade Pity

Weapon, Armor, and Accessory, general upgrading, piercing, and element upgrading use an Upgrade Pity system for probabilities. This pseudo-random system aims to lower the extreme variance of luck. This means that it’s less likely to get really lucky while upgrading, but also less likely to get really unlucky.

With the upgrade pity system, your success rate will rise with each failed upgrade attempt, until you get a successful attempt.

Mathematically, this system produces the same upgrade chances but provides a very nice safety net and is less reliant on RNG. This system is based on a simple Markov-Chain; For example, a 2% probability will begin at 0.062%, and go up by 0.062% each failed attempt. With this system the standard deviation for a success is +/- 17 upgrade attempts, instead of +/- 49 upgrade attempts with the old system.

The number of failed attempts is stored on the item, not the player. This means that when trading items between players, the items retain their number of failed attempts for each upgrade. These numbers are visible on the item tooltip:

Elemental Glow (only on weapons) [OG Glow]

Weapons begin to glow from a +4 upgrade. The glow brightness and size increase based on its upgrade. The max. Elemental Upgrade is +10 and is shown in the picture.

You can switch between the original and ‘newer’ glow effects by using a Scroll of Upgrade Effect. (100fCoinss in the Cash Shop)

Elemental Glow [New Glow]

You can switch between the original and ‘newer’ glow effects by using a Scroll of Upgrade Effect. (100fCoinss in the Cash Shop)

Fire – Water – Electric – Earth – Wind

How to change the element of the weapon and suit

If you want to change the element of your weapon, e.g. so that you have an advantage over a new monster, you have to use the Scroll of Element Change. (available in the Cash Shop)

To do this, double-click the scroll, drag your weapon into the window, select the new element and confirm the process with “Start”.

Note: The process cannot be canceled and can only be undone with a new scroll.
