Basic HnR Moon Beam Assist Guide

Table of Contents

Introduction

If you’re looking to efficiently reach level 60 with an Assist, this guide is for you. It’s designed specifically for free-to-play players, meaning no consumables, no high-level upgrades, and no high-level Ringmaster support. However, it’s important to note that in this case, those extras wouldn’t significantly impact your progress anyway. This guide assumes you’ve already reached level 15.

If you already had 2nd job change here are the guides for Support Ringmaster, HnR Ringmaster, AoE Ringmaster.

Stat Points "H"

For your HnR Moon Beam Assist, the stat allocation is straightforward: go full INT for maximum damage.

Skill Points "K"

The key skills for your build are Moon Beam, Mental Sign, Quick Step, and Haste. Max out Moon Beam for your primary damage output. The other skills are bonuses; additional HP or block rate isn’t necessary. Focus on these three skills to maximize your effectiveness.

Cloak

Ideally, the +8 INT Cloak would be the best option (Cloak of Wisdom), though it’s quite expensive and not necessary in the early stages. If you have one, great! If not, don’t worry—it’s not essential

Pet

Pets are also challenging to obtain early on since they have minimum level requirements. Before level 60, you likely won’t have access to a good pet. If you do get one later, make sure it’s a Fox for the best stat boosts.

Jewelry

Jewelry before level 60 is not crucial. Since you can’t wear +7 jewelry until level 45, and it’s rare at low levels, you can safely ignore it. If you do find jewelry, aim for INT Rings and Demol Earrings and a Mental Necklace, but it’s not a necessity and can be considered a luxury until level 60.

Set Upgrades

Set upgrades are relatively unimportant before level 60. Whether your gear is +5 or not doesn’t make a significant difference. Upgrading or socketing your gear is generally unnecessary at this stage; it’s better to save your resources. Since you’ll mainly use just one skill, any upgrades will have a minimal impact.

Sets

When it comes to gear sets, it’s generally unnecessary to invest in a specific set before level 60. Low-level sets are often rare and overpriced. The SaRdine/Curus Set (level 15) is nice for reduced MP consumption and faster casting time, but it’s not essential. The Talin/Sayram Set at level 30 doesn’t offer much, and the Wedge/Flury Set at level 45 is decent for minor damage, reduced MP consumption, and faster cast time. However, if you can’t afford it, don’t worry—you can progress without it. The level 60 Set is also unimportant. If you do get the Wedge/Flury Set, it’s fine to stick with it, but overall, your gear won’t drastically affect your progress at this level

Weapons, Skills, and Elements

For your Moon Beam weapon, the element doesn’t matter, and socketing is not recommended. Before level 60, socketing isn’t worth the investment because you’ll only have access to low-level cards with minimal stat boosts. Focus instead on finding a weapon with Moon Beam damage, as this will be your primary damage source. Rare weapons (Saint Guarder Stick, Stick of Roritoron) that boost MP or reduce MP consumption can be nice, but they don’t make a significant difference. The most important factor is having a weapon with Moon Beam damage. If a random Stick drops with Moon Beam damage, it’s likely the best weapon you can use, even up to level 58.

HnR Assist Moon Beam playstyle

Now, let’s dive into the playstyle with our full INT build and maxed Moon Beam.

Just hit a Monster with a maxed-out Moon Beam stick and then run away from the monster until it’s dead.

The simplicity of using one skill and just running away from monsters as they die is quite strong.

Whether you’re fast or slow doesn’t really matter when you’re casting from a safe distance. Once you cast, all you need to do is run away, and the monster has no chance of catching up.

If you’re looking to level up a new Ringmaster or Assist, this is by far the most efficient way to do it. It’s incredibly fast—you don’t need any equipment, buffs, or anything, and yet you’re still extremely powerful. That’s really all there is to it. It’s extremely simple.

There might be occasions when you can’t one-shot a monster, especially if it’s 4-5 levels above you. But generally, you should be able to one-shot monsters that are around your level.

If for some reason you can’t, then it’s time to consider some consumables or look for a weapon with Moonbeam damage, maybe even some jewelry to squeeze out a bit more damage. However, this usually isn’t a big issue.
