Basic Yo-Yo Skill Acrobat Guide

Table of Contents

Introduction

This guide provides an overview of how to play a Yoyo Acrobat, focusing on which skills to use. The build is straightforward and easy to set up, primarily centered around skill usage.

If you already had your 2nd job change here is the guide for 1vs1 Jester

Stat Points ("H")

We would recommend investing your stat points into Strength (STR). This will enhance your damage output as you progress through the levels.

Addressing Common Misconceptions

Often, the advice given is to focus on other builds, such as the Bow Acrobat, which is considered more viable. However, this guide is designed to show that playing a Yoyo Acrobat using skills is a valid and enjoyable option. While you can play without skills and rely on auto-attacks, this approach tends to be more expensive and requires higher attack speed, hit rate, and additional buffs.

Skills ("K")

Slow Step (Level 15)

You can effectively rely on the “Slow Step” skill all the way until level 60. It’s a reliable skill with a fast animation and low FP consumption. To maximize your damage, always join a party with a global attack buff.

It’s worth noting that “Slow Step” will increase your FP consumption, so be prepared with plenty of FP potions. You can obtain these from quests or purchase them from the general NPC. The best option, however, is to use Vital Drink X potions from events. Additionally, consider using an FP Necklace, especially the +3 version, which becomes highly useful at level 25.

Skill Progression (Level 30)

After reaching level 30 through monster killing or quests, you can scale up the next skill for the Yoyo Acrobat: “Yo-Yo Mastery.” Like “Slow Step,” this skill should be maxed to level 20. It’s a passive skill, meaning it automatically activates when you equip a yoyo, increasing your attack power by 100—a valuable boost.

At level 25, you can use the FP Necklace +3, a cheap yet effective accessory that most players throw away. It allows you to increase your FP up to 400 at your character level 30, while “Slow Step” only consumes 25 FP per use, making your leveling experience smoother. Higher-level FP potions will also help ease your journey.

Reaching Level 35: Crossline

Upon reaching level 35, you can max out “Cross Line,” a skill with a high stun chance (40%, when maxed out) that makes leveling up more manageable. However, it’s important to note that “Slow Step” generally offers higher DPS due to its faster animation and lower FP cost—50 FP per use compared to 25 FP for “Slow Step.” While “Crossline” is effective for its stun chance, “Slow Step” might be more efficient for consistent damage. It’s up to you

Always aim to join a party for global or link attack buffs to further enhance your damage and kill speed. The main reason you could fell in love with “Cross Line” is its stun probability, which allows you to take down monsters that are much higher in level than you, which could result in the fact, that the stun instant props and the monsters never reach you.

Crossline's Stun Potential

As you level up and encounter stronger monsters with higher level differences, the value of “Crossline” becomes more apparent. Its stun chance can be a lifesaver, allowing you to handle these tougher enemies more effectively. If you have buffs or consumables active, you can really take advantage of “Crossline’s” stun ability, making it easier to kill even high-level monsters.

Reaching Level 45: Perfect Block

In the level range from 45 to 52, the focus should be on maxing out the “Perfect Block” skill, which increases your block rate by 20%. While this might not seem like a significant boost, it does improve your survivability slightly, making it a valuable skill—especially when you’re using “Slow Step” instead of “Crossline” due to the lower FP consumption. “Perfect Block” can offer some extra protection

DPS Comparison: Crossline vs. Slow Step

To wrap up, let’s compare the DPS (damage per second) of “Crossline” and “Slow Step” when both skills are maxed out. Testing on the first training dummy, the character managed to reach 100K damage using “Crossline,” achieving a DPS of around 2.3K per second.

Switching to “Slow Step,” the character also hit 100K damage, but with a noticeably faster animation. This led to a slightly higher DPS of around 2.7K per second, compared to “Crossline’s” 2.3-2.4K. Although the difference in kill speed might not be huge, “Slow Step” does offer a small edge in terms of overall DPS, which could be noticeable if you’re aiming to level up quickly.

Sets

When it comes to equipment, it’s essential to focus on the relevant sets for your character. The first set worth considering is the Level 15 Set Slepint/Stinger Set. If you can collect the full set, great! If not, it’s not a big deal. The main advantage of this set is the additional defense And additionally FP consumption -10% provided by the set effect, but this benefit quickly becomes less significant as you level up. But don’t stress about completing it. The benefits of this set are nice but not critical.

Next, we have the Level 45 Cruiser/Hyper Set. For a Yoyo Acrobat, the two-piece bonus (+75 Yoyo Attack) is relevant, but the rest of the set (Hit rate +10% Critical Damage+20%) aren’t necessary when using skills. Wearing the two-piece Cruiser or Hyper set can be beneficial for your leveling with skills.

Weapons

Now, let’s briefly discuss weapons. Until level 60, you don’t need a specific weapon. Focus on the attack power and whether the weapon boosts your skills, such as Crossline. For example, the Level 45 Pulley of Clockworks has a good attack value for its level, but it’s expensive and rare. It’s not a must-have item if you’re playing a skill-based Acrobat. Missing out on it might slightly reduce your damage, but it’s not essential.

Jewelry

Jewelry is straightforward. If you’re playing normally and aiming to maximize damage, you’ll want Vigor Ring +3Demol Earring +3, and a Peision Necklace +3. The Peision Necklace ensures you don’t need to rely on Potions, as it restores FP by killing. A +3 Peisin Necklace is sufficient, and you may never need Potions again, except possibly when hunting giants or boss monsters. During continuous monster hunting, the necklace acts as an endless Refresher, which is incredibly useful.

Important Assist Buffs for Yoyo Acrobat

Finally, let’s cover the buffs you should aim for as an Acrobat. If you primarily use skills, which I recommend, the most important buffs are:

  • Mental Sign: Boosts your own buffs’ effectiveness and increases your MP pool, helping your MP last longer.
  • Beef Up: Increases your damage output.
  • Heap Up: Boosts your HP, helping you survive longer.
  • Patience: Further increases your HP, reducing the risk of death.

Additionally, Quick Step can be useful for reaching monsters faster, and Cats Reflex boosts your block rate, which is more of a defensive skill. However, the core buffs to prioritize are Mental Sign, Beeff Up, Heap Up, and Patience. Skills like Cannonball and Accuracy are less relevant for a skill-based Yoyo Acrobat.
