Basic 1vs1 Mercenary Guide
Table of Contents
Overview
Keep in mind that this guide assumes you’re a new player without external help, money, or access to advanced items like the Ringmaster.
When you start playing, focus on two key characters: one will be a Mercenary, and the other should be an Assist, an essential support character. While it’s possible to play without this support, it will make the game significantly harder, especially if you’re new.
If you already had your 2nd job change here are the guides for 1vs1 Blade, and 1vs1 Knight.
Stat Points "H"
Let’s start with the basics—stat points. This is very straightforward. You just need to go Full STR.
Skill "K" Strategy Guide
Getting Started
If you’re committed to specific classes like Knight or Blade, it’s important to note that you won’t need a Skill Reset later on. Therefore, it’s advantageous to use those points early in the game to level up quickly. You’ll receive 100 skill points during the job change, which will be sufficient for the essential skills later.
Skill Prioritization
Until level 25, prioritize leveling skills rather than auto-attacks, especially if you lack a strong support character. Focus on maxing out “Slash,” “Keenwheel,” and investing in “Blindside.” This skill combination is powerful even at low levels and will help you deal significant damage efficiently. Is a triple combo skill for your Action Slot.
The downside of this combo is that it requires precise timing, as “Keenwheel” and “Blindside” can’t be used simultaneously. Splash could be used without the Action slot.
Transition at Level 25
At level 25, you’ll gain access to skills “Blazing Sword.” These skills improve your accuracy+10% and sword attack+50, making auto-attacks more viable. If you have an Assist character also at level 25, you’ll gain additional benefits like increased attack speed and hit rate, which makes transitioning to auto-attacks a smoother experience.
Long-Term Planning
As you continue leveling, you’ll eventually want to switch to auto-attacks as your primary damage source. This transition can be made smoother by focusing your Assist on skills that increase your accuracy and attack speed. By level 40, you should have a good balance of offensive and defensive skills. Then Sword Mastery +100 Sword Attack get available allowing you to handle tougher enemies more efficiently.
Final Tips
- Protection: Even though it might not seem immediately useful, maxing out the protection buff can provide a solid defense in tougher battles.
- Empower Weapon: Prioritize acquiring elemental weapons at higher levels, but don’t stress too much about them early on. The benefit of elemental damage is outweighed by the cost of constantly switching elements.
Sets
Early Game: Level 15 Petal/Flower Sets
At level 15, the beginner set is available, but it’s not essential if you’re leveling up primarily with skills. This set offers a bit more defense and reduces FP consumption by 15%, but the benefits are minimal. As a beginner, you’re unlikely to collect the full set, and even if you do, it’s not a game-changer. It’s something you can skip without significant drawbacks, especially if you plan to transition to auto-attacks around level 25 or just before hitting level 30.
Mid-Game: Level 30 Comet/Cylos Sets
When you approach level 30 and start relying more on auto-attacks, the level 30 sets, particularly the Comet/Cylos set, become more relevant. This set is crucial because it provides a 10% hit rate, a 7% critical rate, and a 15% increase in attack speed. The 15% attack speed boost is especially valuable, as it significantly enhances your overall damage output.
While the critical rate bonus isn’t as noticeable at lower levels, the set as a whole is incredibly effective and is considered one of the best in the game for its level range.
Weapons
Level 30 Weapons
When you reach level 30, we highly recommend completing the quest, as it rewards you with an excellent Entanale Sword weapon for this level. However, this quest is quite challenging, especially if you haven’t already acquired good gear. The Red Bangs you need to defeat have a rage phase and can be tough to handle alone. It’s best to team up with other beginners if you see them around, as completing this quest solo can be difficult.
If you manage to finish the quest, the weapon you receive is incredibly valuable and can easily carry you through levels 30 to 40. Since leveling slows down between these levels, you’ll likely be using this weapon for a few hours, possibly even longer if you’re new to the game
Level 45 Weapons
At level 45, there’s a significant upgrade available in terms of weapons. Although upgrading your set might be costly at this point, investing in the Sword of Silverwing for level 45 is highly recommended. This sword is relatively affordable. Given its excellent attack stats and bonuses, including a 7% attack speed increase and 5% hit rate, it’s a must-have for anyone relying on auto-attacks.
Attack speed is one of the most crucial stats in the game for auto-attack builds, making this sword indispensable for your progression.
Level 57 Weapon Options
When you reach level 57, you have the option to switch to the Sparkling Sword. This sword offers a higher attack value, STR +3, and a 20% critical chance, though it doesn’t boost attack speed like the Sword of Silverwing. The higher critical chance can partially compensate for the lack of attack speed, making this sword a viable option. If you have already upgraded your Sword of Silverwing , you might choose to stick with it, as the difference between the two swords isn’t drastic at this stage. However, for optimal damage, switching to the Sparling Sword is a good choice.
Level 60 Weapons
At level 60, the Dretra Sword becomes the best option available. This sword has the highest attack value among the level 60 weapons (aside from the Guardian Axe) and offers significant bonuses, including a 15% hit rate and a 5% attack speed increase. The Dretra Sword is a popular choice due to its superior stats, but it’s also one of the more expensive options.
Jewelry
For jewelry, the optimal setup includes 2 Arek Ring +3, 2 Demol Earring +3, and a Gore Necklace +3. This combination provides balanced stat boosts that enhance your performance in combat, particularly if you’re focusing on an auto-attack build.
