Basic STR AoE Billposter Guide
Table of Contents
Introduction
You’ve decided to become a AoE Billposter, and in this guide, we’ll help you understand the best weapons, gear sets, accessories, pets, and sockets you’ll need. Our goal is to answer all your questions and provide a clear path forward.
Before diving into the details, here are a few important notes. This guide is mainly targeted towards free-to-play players, particularly those who are unsure about what to do but are also seeking useful tips. It assumes you have little to no access to consumables, high-level support, or heavily upgraded equipment. Instead, we will focus on a more modest approach with standard gear. Additionally, you should already be a Level 60 Assist before starting.
One more thing to note is that the AoE Billposter can be played in two ways. Previously, the only viable option was to use the Billposter’s AoE skill because Burst Crack wasn’t strong enough. However, in Flyff Universe, that has changed. The animation speed of Burst Crack has been significantly improved, eliminating the previous argument that Billposter AoE had faster casting. Now, Burst Crack is very fast!
That said, the Billposter has a disadvantage: there is no way to boost cast time. You won’t find it on knuckles, shields, or sets, and without it, INT Bgvur Tialbold AoE with his casting is inefficient. That’s why this guide focuses on the STR Burst Crack AoE Billposter. Though the core mechanics and playstyle remain the same, we highly recommend against using the Billposter AoE skill, as it has too many disadvantages without offering any significant advantages.
Stat Points ("H")
Let’s talk about stat points. Ideally, your stats should be full STR. STR is your primary stat because Billposters have great defensive capabilities, especially with a shield boosting your defense (for example, through block rate awakening).
If you feel insecure about your survivability, you can add some STA, but never more than 50 points—50 is the absolute maximum, and even that might be overkill. STR is the way to go for maximizing damage output, as defense is already well-covered by your gear.
Skill Points ("K")
When it comes to skills, being full STR simplifies things. You can focus on one-on-one until you reach Level 28, where you’ll unlock Burst Crack. Burst Crack combined with Stonehand (to stun your enemies) will be your way for AoE farming. Aside from these, there’s not much else you need to worry about.
Another important skill is Asmodeus (self-buff), which increases your knuckle attack power by 250 and should always be active when you’re grinding. You’ll need Skill Posters to cast Asmodeus, which you can buy from the [General] NPC Lui in Flaris (9,999 Skill Posters cost around 200,000 Penya and will last a long time).
Now, if you’re dead set on playing a full INT AoE Billposter using the Billposter AoE skill, you’ll want to start using the INT-based AoE skill Bgvur Tialbold at Level 70. However, as We mentioned before, the skill scales poorly compared to Burst Crack and lacks the crucial cast time reduction that would make it more viable. We strongly advise against using it in the current state of Flyff Universe.
Cloak
For cloaks, the best option is the 8 STR Cloak. If you’re still in the leveling phase and feel under-defended, you could opt for an 8 STA Cloak for some added defense. And if you are still set on playing INT AoE, you could consider an 8 INT Cloak when you hit Level 70.
Pet
When it comes to pets, I recommend going with an HP pet or a damage pet. For Billposters, STR or attack power is ideal, so pets like the Dragon or Behemoth work well. However, the stats these pets provide are relatively low compared to the massive boost an HP pet can give you. Even pets with 2,000-3,000 HP can make a significant difference, especially at higher levels. HP pets can be found fairly cheaply for a few hundred million Penya and are well worth the investment.
Element Sockets, and Awakenings
Let’s start with your knuckle and its upgrades
Element
The element of your weapon doesn’t matter much. While Burst Crack technically has an element, it’s irrelevant when fighting water, wind, or earth monsters. Whether your knuckle is upgraded to +1 or +10 in an element, it won’t significantly impact your performance. If you want, you can add a +1 element to deal a bit more damage with auto-attacks when pulling mobs, but the difference is minor. Upgrading beyond +1 isn’t worth the investment, even at lower levels. Personally, we recommend saving your resources and avoiding heavy element upgrades. (+1 because of the -30% Resistance on monsters)
Sockets
For socketing, focus on Land Card for STA, Fire Card for STR or Volt Cards for Skill Damage. Volt Card offer only a slightly lower performance than damage-oriented options. STR generally has better scaling than INT, so I recommend going for STR cards unless you find Volt cards to be more cost-effective for your setup. If you need more HP, opt for STA cards to boost your survivability.
Awakening
When awakening your equipment (Scroll of Weapon Bonus), aim for a Burst Crack-related awakening. (For INT AoE Bgvur Tialbold).
Buffs
Your buff prioritization should follow this general order:
- Mental Sign – Enhances buffs overall, making them more effective.
- Heap Up – Boosts your HP, essential for survival.
- Cats Reflex – Increases block rate, great for AoE defense.
- Patience – Extra HP is always welcome.
- Quick Step, Haste, Beef Up, and Cannon Ball can be adjusted to your liking based on whether you prefer more attack speed or movement speed. However, Heap Up, Cats Reflex, and Mental Sign should always be your top priorities. These buffs significantly improve your block rate and HP, which are crucial for AoE grinding.
- Prevention: Recovers your own HP when it reaches below a certain point, very important
Jewelry
For jewelry, the classic setup at Level 60 is two defense Penzeru +1 rings. If you need more HP or STA, consider swapping them for Stam ring 4%. If damage is your priority, you can go with STR Vigor ring. Upgrade your jewelry as much as possible as you level up. Aim for defense Earrings, STR rings, or STA Stam Ring, depending on your level. An HP necklace is also a must to enhance your durability.
Weapons
Guardian Knuckle
For weapons, the Level 60 Guardian Knuckle is a great choice. It offers 15% attack speed and 15% HP, which is excellent for both pulling mobs and tankiness. You’ll likely keep this until Level 90. While some players might consider switching to Knuckle of Ibilis at Level 70, we personally don’t recommend it. The Guardian Knuckle’s balance of attack speed and HP is hard to beat.
Angel Glove
At Level 90, you can switch to the Angel Glove, which offers 5% more HP but sacrifices 15% attack speed. It also adds +7 STR and INT, which is a peculiar stat distribution. While the STR bonus is beneficial, the INT bonus is less useful unless you’re focusing on an INT AoE build.
Mythical Silver Glove
The Mythical Silver Knuckle at Level 105 is a stronger option than the Angel Knuckle, providing an increased block rate +10%, HP +20%, and STA +15. By this point, you should definitely replace your Guardian Knuckle with this one for its superior defensive stats.
Bloody Obsidian Knuckle
The Bloody Obsidian Knuckle, available at Level 120, adds HP +25%, STA+20%, incoming damage -8%. This knuckle offers no block rate bonus, which is a significant downside, but it excels in raw stats and defensive capabilities. While the lack of block rate can be problematic, the Bloody Obsidian Knuckle’s massive HP boost makes it a tempting choice, particularly for those with higher-end equipment who can afford to sacrifice block rate for more survivability
Lusaka's Fist
At level 150 Lusaka’s Fist gives you a big damage boost from its base attack, HP +25-30%, STA +25-30, and Incoming Damage -6-10%, if you can afford it. Keep in mind that it lacks block rate again.
Choosing Between Block Rate and Damage Reduction
Unfortunately, the decision between block rate and damage reduction becomes difficult at higher levels. For example, knights have a similar debate, but they at least have clear options to prioritize either block rate or damage reduction. With the Bloody Obsidian Knuckle, you must choose between slightly higher HP, more STA, and more attack power versus improved block rate from older weapons. It’s not just a straightforward decision between block rate and damage reduction—your overall gear quality will significantly impact your choice.
If you have high-end gear with sufficient block rate from other sources, the Bloody Obsidian Knuckle may be the better option. However, if you’re struggling with defense, the Mythical Silver Knuckle might still be the better choice due to its block rate benefits. Ultimately, it depends on your equipment and playstyle. The better the equipment, the more you can afford to play with the Blood Obsidian Knuckle. The worse the equipment, the more you need block rate and should tend towards the Mystical Silver Glove.
Set Upgrades
Low-Level Upgrades
At low levels, a +5 or +6 set upgrade should suffice (with Scroll of SProtect Low). If you’re willing to invest, adding up to three sockets with 12% HP can be quite beneficial. HP rate is particularly important at lower levels, helping you survive in tougher battles. Once you reach higher levels and your character is more established, you can consider switching to an attack-focused build, but early on, defense and HP are key.
High-Level Upgrades
From Level 105 onward, aim for a +8 upgrade to increase block rate and HP. At this stage, a 4-socket setup with 16% HP becomes standard. This upgrade provides a significant boost to both survivability and performance in PvE content.
Sets
The Billposter class differs slightly from other AoE classes when it comes to armor sets.
Level 50-53 Clockworks Set
This Rashadain/Yuandain Set provides excellent defense but little else of value. The helmet grants additional MP, the suit gives HP and hit rate, the gauntlets offer defense, and the boots add 100 damage—essentially acting as a second Mighteer Earring. While the added defense is impressive, be cautious when facing wind monsters, as the set’s defensive bonuses don’t apply there. This is your go-to set until you can switch to something better.
Level 90 Set
The Billposter doesn’t receive a dedicated AoE set until Level 90, which is a drawback compared to other classes that get their AoE sets at Level 75. The Level 90 Akent/Aken Set is roughly on par with other classes’ Level 75 sets, making it somewhat underwhelming for its level. While it does improve Burst Crack, it lacks desirable bonuses like block rate. Despite this, the set does provide a 10% skill damage boost, which is useful. Although it doesn’t appear impressive, switching to this set might still be worthwhile for the skill damage bonus.
Level 105 Set
At Level 105, you can switch to a tank-focused Billst/Billporon Set. This set offers better stats, including block rate and defense, which are essential for surviving at higher levels. While other classes might switch from their Level 75 sets for improved stats, Billposters don’t get as much out of the Level 105 set. However, if you’re focused on damage, sticking with the Level 90 set might be viable for a while longer. Still, we recommend switching to the Level 105 set for better survivability, especially beyond Level 105 or 110. As you progress to later areas like Azria, the extra defense will make a big difference.
Level 120 Set
Once you reach Level 120, you’ll want to switch to the best AoE set available called Grim/Gravis Set. This set offers everything you need: speed +10%, block rate +10%, HP rate +25%, PvE damage +15%, and PvE damage reduction+10%. It’s the complete package, providing significant boosts to your performance across all metrics.
Level 150 Set
The Level 150 set, known as Roenier/Roelayne Set, is essentially an upgraded version of the Level 120 Grim/Gravis Set. With additional Attack +5%, and Critical Resistance +10%, making it the ultimate set for Billposters at that level. Like other classes, the Level 150 set can be downgraded to Level 140, but you’ll want to switch to this set as soon as possible to maximize your stats.
Shields
As with other classes, shield selection is important. Start with the Ancient Shield (all stats+4) with block rate awakening, then move to the Azure Shield (all stats+7) with block rate awakening. After that, aim for either the Coral Shield or Luzaka’s Shield. The Luzaka’s Shield is particularly strong, offering 5% defense and 5% block rate, all stats +10, but it is also quite expensive. For most players, a Azure Shield or Coral Shield with good block rate awakenings will suffice for the majority of the game.
AoE Billposter Playstyle
You gather monsters and attack them with auto-attacks. This generally works well, especially if you have a good attack speed. Try to get to 100% attack speed.
For a full AoE-focused Billposter, this approach isn’t as effective, but it gets the job done. You activated Stonehand, which stuns the monsters intermittently. This is incredibly useful as it significantly reduces the damage taken. Skills and buffs that allow your AoE attacks to stun are always beneficial. With Stonehand, the monsters are almost permanently stunned, so you barely take any damage.
Key Strategies
- Auto-Attacks and Burst Crack: The core of your strategy revolves around auto-attacking monsters and then using Burst Crack. The real advantage lies in the Stonehand buff, which keeps the enemies stunned most of the time, making fights easier.
- Sustain: One thing to keep in mind, which I may not have emphasized earlier, is that you’ll need a dedicated Assist to keep you healed during battles. Relying solely on food for healing won’t be enough to sustain you during prolonged fights. Having a supporter to actively heal and buff you is crucial for success.
Full STR Billposter Advantages
A full STR Billposter excels in both AoE and 1vs1 combat. Similar to a Ranger focusing on a single main attribute for both AoE and single-target attacks, this build only requires two sets of equipment: one for AoE and one for 1vs1. This flexibility allows you to switch between playstyles without needing to restat or purchase a second stat page. You can effectively perform both playstyles with the same stat distribution, which is incredibly convenient and a major plus for this build.
Disadvantages of INT Build
Another reason to favor the full STR Billposter over an INT build is the lack of Casting Time enhancements available to Billposters. Neither the sets nor the knuckles offer any bonuses to magic speed, making an INT-based AoE Billposter highly impractical. Without any magic speed boosts, an INT build doesn’t make sense and would hinder your performance.
