Introduction to the Clockworks Instance in Flyff Universe (2024)
Welcome to the updated 2024 Clockworks Guide for Flyff Universe. This comprehensive guide answers the most frequently asked questions about Clockworks: How does it work? Where can you find it? What requirements must be met? You’ll learn everything you need to know, from the necessary HP for different difficulty levels to general tips and tricks.
The basics
Requirements for Participating in Clockworks
To enter the Clockworks instance, there is one essential requirement: the character who opens the instance must be at least level 70 and have completed the quests from the Mayor of Darkon (four quests in total, quest 1, quest 2, quest 3, and quest 4) These quests are only mandatory for the player opening the instance – all other participants are not required to have completed the quest and can join regardless of their level.
Clockworks is located in the so-called Clockworks’ Cage, which is hidden in the mountains. To reach it, use a Blinkwing to Darkon. Once in Darkon, head towards the [Mage] Haver until you reach the cave. It’s easy to spot once you know the area. Inside, you’ll find Eshylop, who grants you access to the dungeon and its three difficulty levels: “Easy,” “Medium,” and “Hard.” These difficulty levels were introduced in early 2023, replacing the old system.
Differences Between Difficulty Levels
The different difficulty levels in Clockworks vary primarily in their drop rates:
- Easy: Lower drop rates
- Medium: Standard drop rates (to start it EASY has to be finished ones)
- Hard: Higher drop rates (to start it MEDIUM has to be finished ones)
These distinctions are fairly straightforward, but they directly impact the quantity and quality of rewards. More detailed information regarding the specific differences can be found by speaking with the NPC in-game.
Solo or Guild: Entering Clockworks
Clockworks is primarily designed as a guild dungeon, meaning that only characters in the same guild can fight together. If you plan to tackle Clockworks with multiple friends, they must all belong to the same guild. Otherwise, entry to the instance is not possible.
However, a newer feature allows players to challenge Clockworks solo. In the solo instance, however, the drops are minimal, and the boss appears in a significantly weakened state. For this reason, playing solo is generally considered for testing the instance and is not recommended to farm in solo mode.
Process of the Clockworks Instance
Once the instance is opened, players have one minute to enter. The actual battle against Clockworks lasts for a maximum of one hour. It’s important to note that all guild members who wish to participate must be in the same channel, or they will be unable to join the instance.
Variants and Difficulty Levels
Clockworks offers three difficulty levels: Easy, Medium, and Hard, each available in both Solo and Guild modes, resulting in a total of six different versions. However, the solo variants are largely irrelevant due to the lower rewards and increased limitations, making them unprofitable for farming. While they can be tested once for experience, they are ineffective for efficient grinding.
Characteristics of Clockworks
In the medium version, Clockworks has 62.5 million HP and is resistant to all elemental damage. Therefore, it’s recommended to use weapons without elemental attributes.
Rage Mode and Additional Key Information
Like many boss fights, Clockworks has a Rage Mode that activates when its HP drops to 30%. In this mode, Clockworks deals increased damage, making the fight more dangerous as it progresses.
There are three distinct dungeon versions: Easy, Medium, and Hard. The wiki references the Easy difficulty as “Normal,” which can cause some confusion.
Running Multiple Clockworks Instances as a Guild Simultaneously
In each channel, it’s possible to open a new Clockworks instance simultaneously. Once an instance is active and the one-minute entry period has elapsed, another guild member can start their own instance without joining the existing one. This allows multiple Clockworks runs to be completed consecutively by different characters within the same channel, theoretically enabling endless repetitions for the guild.
Modes
Easy Mode
In the guild mode of the Easy version, Clockworks has 20% less defense and attack power, making the fight easier. However, this also results in a 20% reduction in drops and EXP. The solo mode introduces even more restrictions: Clockworks’ maximum HP is reduced by 60%, and EXP and drops are reduced by 68%. This means the overall drop rate is only 12% of the original rate, a drastic decrease that renders the solo mode unattractive.
Medium Mode
In the Medium version, Clockworks’ HP is reduced by 70% in solo mode. However, EXP and drops are reduced by 84%, making it marginally better than the Easy variant but still largely ineffective for farming.
Hard Mode
The Hard version provides a slight advantage: players receive 10% more EXP and drops, but the boss is also stronger, with 25% more attack power, 30% more HP, and 20% more defense. In solo mode, Clockworks’ HP is reduced by 90%, but the EXP and drops are also reduced by 90%. Even with the 10% bonus, the overall reduction still leaves drops at 80% of their original rate, making this mode unappealing despite the buff.
Summary of the Modes
In summary, playing Clockworks solo is not worth the effort. The different versions vary in HP, defense, attack power, and drop rates. The fight duration is always one hour, and players can bring as many characters as they wish into the instance. Despite these differences, the core mechanics remain the same.
Recommendations
Level Recommendations
The character who opens the instance must be at least level 70, as they need to have completed the quests. However, it is advised not to enter the instance below level 80, as Clockworks can deal significant damage to lower-level characters. Even with 10,000 to 11,000 HP, careless gameplay can put you at risk of dying. In the “Hard” difficulty, it is recommended that players have at least 8,000 HP to avoid being defeated by a single attack.
Recommended HP for the different Difficulty Levels
The required HP to successfully clear the various difficulty levels depends heavily on the equipment being used. Characters with weaker gear will take more damage compared to those with higher-quality items.
- Easy Version: 6,000 to 6,500 HP is sufficient, but for added security, aiming for 7,000 HP is advisable.
- Medium Version: A minimum of 7,000 to 7,500 HP is recommended to safely complete this level.
- Hard Version: Recommended for level 105+ with at least 8,000 HP. Below this, it may become difficult, as Clockworks can deal critical hits of around 7,400 to 7,700 HP in Rage Mode.
It’s essential to factor in the Rage Mode, as Clockworks deals less damage at the beginning of the fight compared to the end.
Damage and DPS Requirements
Your Damage Dealer should achieve at least 50,000 DPS (damage per second) to avoid unnecessarily prolonging the fight. Anything below 30,000 DPS is ineffective and will make the battle overly time-consuming. Given the lower value of drops in 2024, engaging in the fight with low DPS is no longer worthwhile.
General Clockworks tip during fights
When fighting, it is important to always be under Clockworks so that he cannot use his laser (the only attack that can do more than 8,000 damage).
Conclusion
Since the launch of Flyff Universe and the introduction of Clockworks, many things have changed. While the challenges have evolved, Clockworks remains a manageable task—especially when armed with the right information and preparation.
