Support Assist Buff Priority Guide

Table of Contents

Introduction

This guide will focus on which buffs your character needs, which ones you should prioritize, and which are less important. This is one of the most frequently asked questions by players. In this guide, we’ll summarize the most common buffs for various character builds. While there are always specific exceptions that might not be covered here, we’ll focus on the most general and widely applicable buffs that are useful across different classes.

Essential Buffs for All classes “Ringmaster Buffs”

All classes should have—these are the Ringmaster buffs. These buffs are straightforward and essential for all classes:

  1. Protect: Increases defense and magic defense, useful for every character.
  2. Spirit Fortune (SF): Boosts additional damage, which is universally beneficial for any class that deals damage.
  3. Geburah Tiphreth (GT): Increases attack speed and casting speed, making it indispensable for any class focused on dealing damage.

Every character in the game benefits from these three buffs. They are fundamental and should always be prioritized. By the time you level up your Ringmaster, you will generally have enough skill points to max out these buffs.

Prioritizing Assist Buffs

Now let’s discuss the Assist buffs, which can be more challenging to manage, especially early on when you have limited skill points. The following analysis assumes your main character is the one doing the fighting, while a Ringmaster or Assist provides support. We’ll focus on buffs that are crucial for specific classes.

Mental Sign

One buff that might seem surprising to prioritize is Mental Sign. We recommend giving this buff high priority across all classes. Mental Sign boosts your Assist’s Intelligence (INT), which in turn enhances the effectiveness of other buffs. For example, by buffing Mental Sign first, you can increase the boost of other buffs, as INT directly influences their strength. Additionally, Mental Sign improves MP and healing power, which are critical for sustained battles. While there are exceptions, Mental Sign is generally a valuable buff that should not be overlooked.

Important Buffs for 1vs1 Blade

Let’s start with a 1vs1 Blade, which relies on auto-attacks. Here’s the priority order for buffs:

Priority 1 Buffs

  1. Mental Sign: Already discussed, this is key for boosting all other buffs.
  2. Haste: Increases attack speed, which is crucial for a Blade’s damage output.
  3. Accuracy: Enhances hit rate, ensuring your attacks land, which is vital for consistent damage.
  4. Beef Up: Increases STR, directly boosting damage for Blades.
  5. Heap Up: Increases HP, helping to mitigate damage received. While some might place this in Priority 2, we consider it Priority 1, especially for newer players who often struggle with survival.

These buffs are essential for maximizing your damage output and survivability.

Priority 2 Buffs

Once you’ve maxed the Priority 1 buffs, you can focus on the following:

  1. Cannon Ball: Adds DEX, which slightly increases critical hit rate and parry.
  2. Quick Step: Increases movement speed, useful for quicker mobbing and dodging attacks.
  3. Cats Reflex: Boosts block rate, though its impact is minor in 1v1 scenarios.
  4. Patience: Increases HP by a small amount, useful if you’re struggling with survivability.

These buffs are less critical but still beneficial depending on your situation. Choose which to prioritize based on your current needs—whether it’s surviving longer or dealing more damage.

Important Buffs for AoE Blade

When playing as an AoE Blade, the priorities for buffs change significantly. Accuracy and Beef Up are no longer in Priority 1. Instead, the following buffs become essential:

Priority 1 Buffs

  1. Mental Sign: Boosts your INT, which enhances the effectiveness of all other buffs.
  2. Haste: Increases attack speed, which remains important even for AoE builds.
  3. Heap Up: Increases your HP, essential for tanking multiple monsters.
  4. Patience: Adds a bit more HP, providing extra survivability.
  5. Cats Reflex: Increases block rate, crucial for withstanding multiple hits.
  6. Cannon Ball: Enhances your DEX, providing better parry and a slight increase in block rate.

Priority 2 Buffs

  1. Accuracy: Enhances hit rate, ensuring your attacks land, which is vital for consistent damage.
  2. Beef Up: Adds STR, which is less critical for an AoE build but still useful.
  3. Quick Step: Increases movement speed, which can be useful but isn’t essential.

For an AoE Blade, the focus shifts to defensive buffs, as you’ll need to tank multiple enemies simultaneously. Offensive buffs like Accuracy aren’t as necessary, so they should be deprioritized.

Important Buffs for 1vs1 Knight

For a 1vs1 Knight, the buffs are quite similar to those for a 1vs1 Blade, with a focus on enhancing damage and survivability.

Priority 1 Buffs

  1. Mental Sign: Boosts your INT, which enhances the effectiveness of all other buffs.
  2. Haste: Essential for increasing attack speed.
  3. Accuracy: Ensures your hits land consistently.
  4. Beef Up: Increases STR, boosting your damage.
  5. Heap Up: Adds HP, helping you survive longer in fights.

Priority 2 Buffs

  1. Cannon Ball: Enhances DEX for better hit rate and parry.
  2. Quick Step: Improves movement speed.
  3. Patience: Adds extra HP.
  4. Cats Reflex: Boosts block rate, though less critical in 1v1 combat.

Important Buffs for AoE Knight

For an AoE Knight, the focus shifts to defensive buffs, similar to the AoE Blade.

Priority 1 Buffs

  1. Mental Sign: Enhances INT, boosting the power of other buffs.
  2. Haste: Still important for attack speed.
  3. Beef Up: Adds STR, which is more relevant here than for an AoE Blade.
  4. Heap Up: Essential for increasing HP.
  5. Patience: Provides additional HP.
  6. Cats Reflex: Increases block rate for better defense.

Priority 2 Buffs

  1. Accuracy: Useful but not essential in an AoE setup.
  2. Quick Step: Helpful for positioning but not critical.
  3. Cannon Ball: Provides additional DEX, but less crucial for AoE.

  4. Quick Step: Increases movement speed, which can be useful but isn’t essential.

Important Buffs for 1v1 Ranger

  1. Mental Sign: Boosts INT, which is crucial for enhancing other buffs.
  2. Haste: Increases attack speed.

  3. Quick Step: Improves movement speed.

Priority 3 Buffs

  1. Accuracy: Less crucial for Rangers but still useful.

Beef Up: Slightly increases damage but is the least important for this build.

Important Buffs for AoE Ranger Buffs (HnR difference mentioned)

For an AoE Ranger defensive buffs are the top priority.

Priority 1 Buffs

  1. Mental Sign: Enhances INT, boosting other buffs.
  2. Haste: Remains important for attack speed.
  3. Heap Up: Essential for increasing HP.
  4. Patience: Adds more HP for better survivability.
  5. Cats Reflex: Increases block rate, crucial for defense.

Priority 2 Buffs

  1. Cannon Ball: Useful for DEX, providing better parry (maybe in prio 1, depending in the available of skill points).
  2. Quick Step: Improves mobility, which is key for HnR strategies.

For HnR Rangers, Quick Step, Cannon Ball, and Mental Sign are the most important buffs. While other buffs are helpful, they can be deprioritized based on available skill points and your specific playstyle.

Important Buffs for 1vs1 Billposter

For a 1vs1 Billposter, the buff priorities are fairly straightforward, focusing on enhancing your combat effectiveness.

  2. Patience: Adds extra HP, offering slight additional protection.
  3. Cats Reflex: Enhances block rate, helpful but not critical.

Quick Step: Improves movement speed, useful for better mobility.

Important Buffs for AoE Billposter Buffs (STR and INT mentioned)

As an AoE Billposter, your buff priorities shift depending on whether you focus on STR or INT-based skills.

Priority 1 Buffs

  1. Mental Sign: Boosts INT, which is vital if you’re using INT-based AoE skills.
  2. Haste: Essential for maintaining a high attack speed.
  3. Heap Up: Increases HP, crucial for tanking multiple enemies.
  4. Patience: Adds more HP, further enhancing your tanking ability.
  5. Cats Reflex: Increases block rate, necessary for surviving in AoE situations.

Priority 2 Buffs

  1. Accuracy: Useful if you’re playing a STR-based AoE build but less important for INT builds.
  2. Beef Up: Adds STR, crucial for STR-based builds but irrelevant for INT-based builds.
  3. Quick Step: Increases mobility, helpful but not critical.
  4. Cannon Ball: Boosts DEX, providing minor benefits, and should be prioritized accordingly.

Important Buffs for Ringmaster

For a Ringmaster, the role typically involves supporting others, especially in a tanking capacity.

Priority 1 Buffs

  2. Accuracy: Largely irrelevant for a Ringmaster, unless pulling aggro with auto-attacks.

Irrelevant Buffs

  1. Accuracy: Completely unnecessary for a Psykeeper, as magic attacks don’t rely on accuracy.
  2. Beef Up: STR is irrelevant since Psykeepers deal damage through spells, not physical attacks.

Important Buffs for Elementor

Elementors share many similarities with Psykeepers, focusing heavily on magic.

Priority 1 Buffs

  1. Mental Sign: Boosts INT, essential for spellcasting.
  2. Haste: Increases spellcasting speed.
  3. Quick Step: Important for Hit-and-Run tactics; if not using this strategy, it can be deprioritized.
